Check in was straightforward and welcoming, and service was efficient. The room itself and the facilities felt a little bit small and old, but it was very clean. The bathroom was a sort of all-in-one cubicle that reminded me of one I'd encountered before in a cheap Ibis hotel, but it was considerably better and the bath and shower worked well. The room amenities elevated the experience, with unexpected freebies such as toothbrush and hair brush. There was no space for a wardrobe, but the two wall hooks and hangers did the job. In terms of items like irons etc, they could be requested from reception. Bed was quite solid but I prefer this anyway. Location on Hanazono-dori would be the main factor for people staying at this hotel. Right on Ni-chome, it's perfect for visiting the LGBT area as well as the rest of Shinjuku. Golden Gai is perhaps a 10-15 minute walk, and the San-chome subway station is just across the street. The main JR Shinjuku station is also around 10 minutes away for handy access to the Yamanote line. The lack of breakfast options isn't a problem as there is a Doutor and Tully's Coffee as well as a 7-11 one street away, and for late afternoon tea and light meals I'd recommend the Yuri Café Anchor just around the corner. In terms of value for money in this area, I think the Pod Select would be very hard to beat. It offers a comfortable stay at an incredibly good price.

We absolutely live everything about our stay in Pod Select!! The location is the most perfect part of Shinjuku!!! So walkable to the Kabukicho gate, Omoide Yokocho, the national gardens ect. The staff was very welcoming, and when my husband suddenly was in needed for a dentist care, one of the staff girls tried calling some clinics and in the end walked us in the rain towards one of them. We appreciate this extra mile so much!!! The room size as everywhere in Japan is very small, but we managed perfectly, you just need to be very precise and systematic :D But I should probably mention that if you're one of those travellers with 2-3 massive size luggages, there's no way you'll have space to open it or even fit it all in the room, it's a pod size after all. We loved how comfy the bed and pillows were. Good ventilation, a kettle inside the room and a microwave in the lobby area. Also, they provided free toiletries like moisturizer, shampoo, shavers, toothpaste ect. Overall we loved our stay in here and would love to come back one day, thank you!

Wonderful little hotel minutes away from Shinjuku Station. It's a bit on the older side but it's still in really good condition. I read a lot of negative reviews regarding the small size of the rooms... but it's Tokyo, expect everything to be small! The staff were lovely. Upon check out we were also able to leave our bags behind the front desk for the whole day. The only negative thing is the price. It was a bit hefty, but considering we went during Cherry Blossom season it seems nothing was cheaper than what we got.

A Stone's Throw Away from Shinjuku-Nichome (for nightlife) and also very near to restaurants and convenience stores like Lawson. Walkable to Shinjuku main area (near the Shinjuku JR Station). Lobby serves free coffee, green tea and water, which is appreciated. Smoking area available in the hotel as well, thus reducing the need to leave the hotel. Good value for money - lower prices than other hotels in the vicinity, even though room is comparably sized.

The staff was excellent. The receptionist who served me from 2/7 to 2/9 was very friendly and tried her best to meet my needs. To be honest, I was a bit wary of booking this place because of the initial reviews, but I'm glad I went ahead because it's within walking distance from all the places I wanted to visit in Shinjuku. The room is fairly quiet and comfortable, and it has all the basic I needs I expect from the hotel.
